Female Veterinarian taking a picture of an elephant with tusks named Tusker

Carrie Burhenn, DVM

DVM

Carrie Burhenn graduated from Oregon State University in 1990. This was in the years before Oregon State had all four years of their veterinary program, so she also attended and graduated from Washington State University as well. In 1998 she earned her specialty certification in feline practice and has recertified twice to maintain her credentials. She has practiced at the Feline Medical Clinic since graduation and co-owned the hospital from 1994 to 2025.

She now has stepped back to allow a new vision for the practice and to be able to pursue her hobbies of drawing and painting, photography, travel, bicycling, scuba diving, archery, backpacking and camping, and collecting books on African exploration and natural history. She has two cats, Walter and Mara, who have lived lives of extreme comfort and privilege, and are clueless that not all cats get to live this way.…and yes, she really does have a papier mâché camel’s head on her wall.
